My experience with Drivemotion has been extremely disappointing. Despite the contract allowing cancellations for urgent reasons under Article 7.2, the driving school has continuously provided excuses and invented conditions to avoid issuing my refund.
I needed to cancel my fixed lesson package due to permanently leaving the Netherlands, but instead of a professional and transparent process, I was met with a series of unacceptable practices:
Fake Notice Period: Although the contract does not require a notice period for fixed packages, I was suddenly told I needed to wait one month, which was never communicated before.
Tax and Accountant Excuse: The instructor claimed he could not process my refund due to VAT and tax issues with the Belastingdienst, stating he needed to wait for his accountant. However, in reality, Dutch businesses regularly issue refunds first and then adjust their tax filings later. This felt like a clear stalling tactic.
Irrelevant Document Requests: I was asked to provide an end-of-contract document from a company I never worked for, showing a complete misunderstanding of my situation. Despite providing valid proof of my RNI registration, the refund was still delayed.
No Clear Refund Timeline: When asked for a specific refund date, I was only told it would be no sooner than mid-April, with no exact date provided. This lack of clarity and professionalism is unacceptable, especially when the contractual obligation is to handle refunds reasonably and without unnecessary delay.
Unprofessional Communication: Throughout this process, I received vague responses, inconsistent information, and zero accountability. Instead of adhering to the contract, Drivemotion created new obstacles to avoid issuing a refund.
I highly advise anyone considering Drivemotion to think twice. My experience suggests that this driving school is not committed to transparent or fair business practices. There are many reputable driving schools out there that respect their contracts and treat students with integrity—unfortunately, Drivemotion is not one of them.
UPDATE:
In response to my review, the instructor claimed that I did not provide proof of leaving the Netherlands and failed to follow agreements. This is not true:
I provided my RNI registration, which is valid proof that I am no longer a resident of the Netherlands. The contract does not require a specific document beyond this to prove my departure.
The contract under Article 7.2 does not mention a notice period for fixed lesson packages, yet I was told to wait a month, an invented condition that was never communicated upfront.
The contract does not mention a minimum number of hours required before cancellation, yet after I requested my refund, I was suddenly told that my package could not be canceled once I had taken more than 10 lessons. This rule was never communicated and does not appear anywhere in the contract.
The emergency cancellation policy stated in the contract appears to be inconsistent and selectively enforced. The instructor added new conditions not mentioned in the contract, including limiting emergencies only to the student's illness and not considering legitimate emergencies such as relocation or family emergencies.
I have copies of all communications and the contract that support my statements, and I am happy to provide these privately if needed. My intention is not to harm Drivemotion, but to share my genuine experience and warn future customers about the difficulties I faced, including misleading information, unfair refund practices, and invented conditions that were not part of the original contract.
