What is the role of the mediator, and do you take sides?
As an MfN-registered mediator, I am neutral and independent. I am not a judge who makes decisions for you, nor am I a lawyer fighting for just one side.
My role is to facilitate constructive communication, manage the emotional aspects of the dispute, and guide both of you toward a sustainable, legally sound solution that you create together.

How long does an average divorce mediation process take?
This depends on the complexity of your situation (especially if international assets or child custody are involved).
However, an average process takes between 3 to 5 sessions of 1 to 2 hours each.
Because mediation is highly targeted and collaborative, it is almost usually significantly faster and less expensive than a lengthy legal battle in court

How much does mediation cost, and who pays?
We believe in completely transparent pricing without hidden fees. You can view our mediation packages directly on the Pricing page of our website. In most cases, the cost is split 50/50 between both parties. During our free introductory video call, we can discuss your specific situation and outline the expected costs upfront so you know exactly where you stand.
What if the other person is hesitant or refuses to cooperate?
Mediation is always voluntary, but it requires commitment.
If the other party is hesitant, it often helps to schedule a brief, no-obligation introductory call where I neutrally explain the benefits of mediation over a traditional lawsuit.
The guarantees of strict confidentiality, lower costs, and the convenience of joining a virtual session from anywhere can sometimes get both parties on board.

Are the agreements we make in mediation legally binding?
Yes. At the end of a successful mediation, we document all your agreements in a formal settlement agreement (vaststellingsovereenkomst) or a parenting plan (ouderschapsplan) in the case of a divorce.
Once both parties sign this document, it is a legally binding contract.
We also arrange the court submission of your divorce documents.

Do we have to meet in person, or can sessions take place online?
Our practice operates online.
We specialize in secure, confidential video-call mediation.
This is specifically for the modern professional and expat client, as it allows you to participate from the comfort of your own home or office, eliminates travel time, and makes scheduling easy; even if you and your ex-partner are currently living in different cities or countries.
