I rented an appartment in Leiden for 2 years with Rent2Day and everything went well, they communicate very fast and are professional. My only problem was that the former tennants made some modifications to the house, and we were not informed that by accepting the house as it is we are inherently expected to repair every change the former tennants made. I ended up having to paint an entire room on my own and spent a lot of money simply because I was not informed of this detail before receiving the keys. Otherwise, we did get our deposits back in due time so no problems there.

I have to say though, that apart from this incident they were very prompt and professional during the 2 years I stayed in Leiden.

Be careful when paying a deposit to this agency. They are dishonest and unfairly side with the landlords, it seems to be part of their income.

We did not receive our deposit back, and unfortunately, Rent2Day sided with the landlord despite the landlord not providing any invoices or evidence for the claimed damages. None of the issues mentioned were reported at the start of the tenancy as being pre-existing or valid.

For example, the landlord initially stated that the garden was their responsibility, but later claimed we had failed to maintain it. They also accused us of damaging kitchen pans, even though we never used them — we placed them in storage on the first day and returned them before moving out.

Throughout this process, the landlord did not respond to our attempts to communicate. At the time (2023), pursuing legal action was not feasible for us, but we are now considering it, as claims can be filed within a four-year period. The full deposit amount was €1,550 and the landlord only paid back about €300.

Based on our experience, I would not recommend this real estate.
